Today, there are 3 million people in the United States living with epilepsy. About a month ago, a long time member of CFG living with epilepsy unfortunately experienced a epileptic seizure causing him to badly injure his shoulder and other bruises weeks before his CrossFit competition. Leonardo Genna didn’t let that stop him from staying committed and dedicated to the CrossFit Glendale community. Although told by doctors, family and ME not to continue training, Lenny was still in the Box working with his teammates practicing for Flex. Leonardo’s reply was “Keep moving, keep doing the things that I like, I’ll keep going”.
Lenny ended up competing at Flex on the Beach with his team and just like every WOD he does, he did it at 110%. He was the team Captain!!! Lenny’s passion and energy is directed toward a common goal: to overcome a challenge, to surpass an obstacle, and to win. So inspirational!!! Leonardo Genna is CFG’s WINNER!!! I think it would be great to have a day to honor Lenny and raise awareness for Epilepsy. Join CrossFit Glendale and Athletes vs Epilepsy to Move Mountains on October 19th and participate in the Work Out of the Day. 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy (multiple unprovoked seizures) in their lifetime. Chances are you may know some of them. Let’s harness our power together to Move Mountains, find a cure and save lives!
